Get Connected Meaningfully with a Patient-Centered Medical Home

The buzz in healthcare today is all about the stimulus fund and what physician practices must do to get a piece of the pie. While tapping into these government resources could prove to be advantageous to your practice, let us not forget that in the midst of all this is the most important component - patient care.

As your practice prepares to receive financial incentives for "meaningfully" demonstrating use of health information technology, remember that a Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) is a means to elevate the priority of the provider-patient relationship in the healthcare delivery process to attain better patient coordination and more effective upstream care. Achieving PCMH standards is recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).

Both PCMH and Meaningful Use (MU) can reward your practice for superior levels of quality, service, and outcomes.  Integral to achieving these results is the adoption of a patient portal - the quintessential element for NCQA scoring, PCMH and MU.

View this webinar now to learn about:

  • The ability to add PMPM to PCMH contracts with third party payors
  • Pay for Performance (PCMH)
  • MU incentive payments
  • ROI in the form of improved efficiencies
  • Improved collection ratios

Presented by: John L. Bender, M.D. of Miramont Family Practice
Dr. Bender is an expert on the topic of PCHM, and his practice was one of the first in the state of Colorado to become a PCMH.

The ABC's of Coding

Practice managers do not need to be coders to insure the success of their practice, but they do need to understand the structure of coding, the source of authoritative citations and rules, and basic concepts to achieve maximum revenue with certain compliance. This session, in a lecture format with time for participants' questions, has a twofold strategy: provide answers to coding questions applicable to a wide range of specialties and supply participants with the ability to find answers to other questions when they return to their practices.  For example:

  • What part of the history completed via a patient portal can be used to select the level of Evaluation and Management service?
  • What does the clinician need to document in order to use that history?
  • Can a physician be paid for online services that are part of the patient portal?
  • Are there relative value units for these services?  What about phone calls?
  • How does a practice know whether a procedure can be billed bilaterally or whether the physician needs to be in the office when an x-ray is taken?

Learning Objectives:

  • Knowledge about coding rules to enhance revenue and insure compliance.
  • Understand the structure behind coding rules and know where to find definitive, authoritative answers to coding questions.

Presented by: Betsy Nicoletti- physician practice consultant, speaker and author who helps phsyicians code, bill and collect for their services

Leveraging a Secure Patient Portal to Improve Quality, Reduce Costs and Optimize Revenue

The government wants to improve the quality of healthcare and reduce costs, and patients want the best value for their health care dollar. While physician practices are challenged to satisfy these needs during tough economic times, emerging treatment and revenue models are helping progressive physician practices find success.

Among these new models are "e-visits" and wellness programs - delivered through a secure patient portal. This Webinar takes a practical, real world approach to portal implementation, with emphasis on:

  • Delivering Quality and Value
  • Controlling Cost
  • Optimizing Revenue

Learn how to capture the ARRA Stimulus EMR incentive by electronically "engaging patients and families in their healthcare," a priority of the ONCHIT Policy Committee, as stated in the recently published Meaningful Use Proposed Rules. Plus, you'll discover how to utilize the portal to develop an on-going revenue stream for your practice.

Self-Service in 2010: The Value of Patient Portals

The Internet has transformed consumers' lives by providing access to knowledge, assistance in making informed decisions about a product or service, and allowing them to complete "self-service" interactions with banks, retailers, service providers, and more. As a result, they now seek the same level of convenience in healthcare, and it is impacting how they choose their healthcare providers.  Patients are demanding improved communication with their physician, improved access to their records, and increased involvement in their own care and the care of their families.

View this complimentary webinar to learn how your practice in 2010 can gain a competitive edge by offering patient-to-provider communications that will simplify tasks like appointment requests, completing registration forms, or paying bills - all online in a secure HIPAA-compliant environment.

Leveraging Technology: A New Look at Patient Collections

It has never been more urgent and yet more difficult to collect patient balances.  The combination of more high-deductible health insurance plans and the massive loss of medical benefits have created a pressing need for medical practices to re-evaluate patient collections.  A strong collections program and the timely collection of patient balances are critical to the viability of the modern medical practice.

Mary Pat Whaley, FACMPE, takes on the topic of patient collections and discusses the new role of technology.  She discusses proactive patient collections and the use of technology to support and facilitate a collection program with a goal of "never again sending a patient statement!"
