FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Oct. 13, 2010 - Miramont Family Medicine has received the 2010 HIMSS Davies Award for Ambulatory Care presented by the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, or HIMSS. The award recognizes health care systems and facilities that effectively use health information technology, such as electronic health records, or EHRs, to improve the safety and quality of patient care.
"Miramont has a long-standing commitment to high standards of patient care, especially in managing medical conditions that can be resolved without admission to a hospital," said John L. Bender, M.D. of Miramont Family Medicine. "The effective collaboration of a top-notch staff of medical professionals and technology experts has a direct impact on the high level of care that each patient receives at our facilities. Our priority has always been building genuine, lasting relationships with our patients."
Miramont's adoption of Intuit Health's patient portal was integral to achieving this award as well as being recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance as a Level III Patient-Centered Medical Home in 2009. The portal helped Miramont achieve all nine Patient-Centered Medical Home standards, and will also extend the value of their EHR solution to help them and other practices meet the Meaningful Use requirement for patient access and communication outlined in the HITECH and American Recovery and Reinvestment Acts.
"We have always believed in the effective implementation of the Patient-Centered Medical Home as a means to elevate the priority of the provider-patient relationship and engaging patients in a manner that will provide better care and delivery for patient care," said Bender. "Intuit Health's patient portal is an ideal solution for the achieving the requirements for PCMH and Meaningful Use."
Six Davies Award winners in four categories will be honored during the HIMSS annual conference in February 2011.
